Time to adapt to changes

September 2015

With the globalisation and continues changing on the socio-economic environment where companies are operating, the ISO organization plans to update once in every five years the Management System Standards. During 2015 this plan fall onto the Quality Management and Environmental Standards.

EQSC in collaboration with its partner Quality Austria, organized the Training on Requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, respectively Quality and Environmental Management System standards.

Apart the auditors of EQSC, personnel of leading companies in the Albanian economic sectors, were present.

The knowledge on the changes of the standards is necessary for the auditors and the personnel of the companies, as the new standards are more focused on the performance of the System.

Main changes

Both revised standards follow a common structure in accordance with Annex SL, with the same terms and definitions as a number of other management system standards. This is very useful for those organizations that choose to operate a single (sometimes called “integrated”) management system that can meet the requirements of two or more management system standards simultaneously.

ISO 9001:2015 is even less prescriptive than its predecessor.  This has been achieved by combining the process approach with risk-based thinking, and employing the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle at all levels in the organization.

While ISO 14001:2015, is greater focused on leadership and on the lifecycle thinking when considering environmental aspects.

What changes on audit process?

Based on the above changes, the focus of the audit process is concentrated more on the process approach and on the real integration of the standards requirements with the organization’s activities. Management Systems should not be evaluated as separate from the overall companies’ activities and processes but rather as a part of them.

The training is part of a set of training planned to further improve the competence of EQSC auditors, which will last for about 7 weeks, from 2016 until the first half of 2017. Included with the theoretical part, the training is conducted based on group work and experience exchange, so that the requirements are well understood and easily to be practiced.

Next training planned is on the Requirements of SMS (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems) and IMSR (Integrated Management Systems – Occupational Safety Law and Environmental Law), during 24-28 January 2017.

These training EQSC will offer to all interested parties for the improvement of their personnel competences.
